Going Back
4 Things to Remember
Restrictions are easing. The phones are starting to ring. Life is beginning to return to some semblance of what it once was. But we are going back to work in a different world.
It won’t be the same. Too many changes have taken place. So in this short article, we’ll give you a few tips on how to manage the transition of going back to work. The transition can be simplified if your teams are feeling rested and connected. It will be important to organize activities to help teams acclimatize.
1. Book In Advance
Be organised. With each transition into a new stage of restrictions easing comes a long list of to-do’s and to-do not’s. Make sure with any activity that involves a venue, you book in advance. Venue’s like Baedecker Wine Bar (perfect for a welcome back luncheon) or Powerhouse’s Bar Alto are serving food and drinks but bookings are limited.
2. Get Moving
Get your team up and about. Going back to work will be somewhat like waking up after a long sleep. Have your teams run, jump, compete, and work together to remind them that life is more than just sitting at home in your study. We recommend games like The Hustle, or Survivor which are both focused on having teams navigate and explore their environments while working together.
3. Go Outside
We’ve all been spending a lot of time indoors. Simply giving your teams a chance to get out into the sun and into the air will be a great opportunity to reconnect with their bodies, minds, and each other.
4. Focus on Connection
Make sure your teams feel part of something bigger. Remote work has its benefits but without careful management employees can be prone to feeling isolated and disconnected. Mindfulness Games or group activities provide excellent opportunities for teams to reconnect with themselves and the bigger picture.
Keep it simple. When bringing teams back into a shared space be sure to communicate with them about what they expect, and what they want. Good managers know how to adapt to the needs of their teams and act accordingly. Host an event that brings everyone together with the purpose being to bring everyone together.
Doing this will help your teams feel rested, connected, and respected.
