Well it sure has been an interesting month hasn’t it? We began April a few weeks into the global lock-down as the pandemic numbers crept up and up. Toward the end of the month we witnessed a flattening of the curve and a national sigh of relief that things might be looking a little better. April brought us a great banana bread recipe, how to use a banana as a face mask, and a plethora of remote work fails. But don’t worry, we got you covered.

In the world of team building we’ve seen an unprecedented turn around in transitioning to remote, virtual, and online platforms to continue to provide team building options for companies. At the beginning of the year we doubled down on our value of “making every workplace an appealing place to work” and have now included the home office within that environment. 

With employees now working remotely there comes a laundry list of risks and rewards. Statistics show that employees are more productive, happier, and healthier when working from home. Yet they can also be prone to loneliness and problems communicating.

Our partners at The Go Game capitalised on the situation and launched their newly developed platform The Remote Game. We’ve been developing this experience for over 6 months and with The Go Game working on the software for over 18, so the timing was ripe for a fast turnaround to get teams connected during the quarantine. Through countless hours of midnight troubleshooting and plenty of player feedback, we are fast becoming masters of the platform.

But what if things don’t go back to normal? What if companies choose to continue work-from-home arrangements for the future? Our clients have already looked at limiting numbers at the workplace, an end to hot-desking as we know it, and scheduled work hours. This is all to comply with social distancing laws. So, what does that mean for team building activities? We’re a long way from hosting 100+ scavenger hunts again – but remote team building is here to stay. COVID or no-COVID, we’re looking forward to improving our service and helping you to make your virtual workplace the most appealing place to work.
