Gumtree is known for its vibrant culture, collaborative spirit, and a team that loves to have a laugh.

For their EOFY business event, the brief was clear: skip the stuffy formalities and create something that felt more like a party than a traditional team-building day.

They were after an experience that people could dip in and out of, with plenty of room to relax, mingle, and enjoy themselves—while still offering something exciting, high-energy, and interactive.

  • Activity: Fun and competitive Minute to Win It games designed to strengthen teamwork
  • Group size: 180 pax

THE EXPERIENCE

This wasn’t your typical team-building session. The Game Show was designed as a four-hour rolling entertainment hub, where people could watch, laugh, jump in for a round (or five), and then grab a drink or a chat when they wanted a break.

The vibe was fun, relaxed, and a little bit cheeky—just like the Gumtree crew. With high-energy hosts, music, bright visuals, and a constant rotation of hilarious and fast-paced game rounds, the Game Show became the unofficial heart of the party.

Staff could choose to get involved or just enjoy the action from the sidelines. There was plenty of banter, surprise challenges, and spontaneous laughs throughout the day—exactly what the Gumtree team loves.

The format struck the perfect balance between structure and flexibility. It kept the energy up and the laughter rolling, without putting pressure on anyone to participate if they preferred to watch.

IMPACT ON THE BUSINESS

While it wasn’t about traditional team-building, the Game Show nailed what Gumtree was really after: connection, fun, and shared moments that bring people together naturally.

By giving their team a chance to play, relax, and enjoy a shared experience—with the freedom to engage on their own terms—they created an environment that felt celebratory, inclusive, and totally true to their culture.

This kind of experience doesn’t just boost morale in the moment—it helps teams stay energised, connected, and reminded of the joy that comes from simply enjoying each other’s company.
