A revolution in telecommunication is upon us. With many of us now forced to work from home we are being faced with new oppurtunities, challenges, and possibilities. How do we effectively host and manage a conference call on a daily basis? Read below for our step by step guide.

1. Plan
   Set an agenda for the conference call and email to the participants prior. Make clear the date, time, list of participants, structure, and purpose of the meeting.
2. Introduce
   Introduce all participants at the beginning of the call and go over the agenda. Let everyone know how the call will run and that people will be given time to share ideas
3. One at a Time
   After you outline the purpose and plan give everyone a few minutes to provide their input. Remind participants there will be room to ask questions afterwards.
4. Questions
   After the round-table discussion, open the conversation to questions and answers. Have participants address specific people when they talk. Begin sentences with people’s names.
5. Summarise
   Toward the end of the scheduled time begin to wrap up by summarising key ideas, addressing unmet questions, and outlining tasks and action steps for individuals. Organise a summary email with all information generated during the chat

To manage a conference call effectively is going to take on a whole new meaning now that they will be a daily ritual. So be organised and get your teams onto the right track. It is better to implement this now, than later.
