Why Your End-Of-Year Party Is So Important

The most rewarding time of the year for employees is the end-of-year party. It not only signifies another (hopefully) successful year in business but is also a great chance to bring your team together in an informal way so they can let their hair down.

Here at Banana Life, we truly believe that ‘The team that parties together stays together,’ which is why we have a number of end-of-year functions that can help teams do exactly that – especially if they can’t all be in the same place.

On top of this, there are mountains of evidence showing that workers are happier when the business shows its appreciation. So let’s dive into the reasons why your end-of-year event is so important.

Letting your team know you love what they do

Your business wouldn’t exist without its workers, so the top reason on the list for an annual company party is ‘staff appreciation.’ Everyone who works for you needs to know that they are appreciated, and the big yearly bash is a great way to bring everyone together and tell them.

Solidify the company culture, build some memories, and create some stories that can be told continuously throughout the next year.

Up the motivation

The end of the year is not always conducive to worker productivity, but with an office party on the horizon, there is a reason for a bit of excitement around the office.

Make the end-of-year party fun with staff awards

Staff awards are always a good time, especially if there are some hilarious ones in there. Make sure all staff win an award, create some laughs, but also use this as a serious way to recognise their performance throughout the year.

Promoting worker productivity with a prize or trophy at the end of the year bash helps to boost focus, ingenuity and staff morale.

Did you know it’s a tax deduction?

We don’t want to get too serious here, but in reality, fun and good times aren’t always enough to get a party over the line with the higher-ups.

The company party is an investment in your people, and most of the expense is tax-deductible!

We aren’t your tax advisors, so speak to them about portions and expense limits and all that stuff.

*This is not financial advice.

Which word did we leave out?

You might have noticed that we didn’t refer to the company party as the “Christmas party” as you may have a number of your people who don’t celebrate Xmas.

Your end of year bash doesn’t have to be a Christmas party (while it also can be). Just remember to be inclusive, as not everyone celebrates ‘Christmas’ for the same reasons.

Happy planning!
